Progress Update 04/21
This week I’ve been catching up on some key aspects I left behind for a bit: making a logo and mockup. Although I’m not completely done with my prototype, I did need some key screens available for my senior showcase submission and had to spend some time creating them. Fortunately, now that these things are out of the way, I can more easily make edits in the future.
I definitely had to rush making a logo more than I would normally, but wanted to document my process overall. I started with a mind map of potential related words, and ended up sticking with the original title of Table Talk for now.
I then moved into Figma to try iterating further, focusing on typography and my ideas of integrating either a speech bubble or playing cards into the logo.
I didn’t like the speech bubble ideas, plus they looked more like a messenger app. I found the card to be the most visually cohesive and unique, so I started playing with gradients of my primary and secondary colors along with the card alone or in a stack.
I primarily used the typeface Inter, as I found it looks minimal and clean, and scales well with readability.
After showing the mockups to my users for feedback, I selected this logo for readability and uniqueness, especially with the two cards suggesting two players/dialogue. I also intend to use the single card (top left) as a small version of the logo.
