Guest Speaker — Rose Bender
This week we were visited by guest speaker Rose Bender, who detailed her career journey through IDM to her current position as a Digital Marketing Manager at LinkedIn.
Overall, it was really helpful to hear from someone who had a less linear career path but was still able to find a position that suited her better. She spoke about the perseverance required to submit many job applications and how to keep searching despite rejections along the path. I definitely found her experience relatable, as my full-time job search was definitely a challenge.
It was also a reminder to me to not get complacent even though I have a position lined up. I need to stay on top of documenting my work and always look for ways to upskill or advance my career to something that I enjoy more.
She also has a really well-documented portfolio site, which includes a lot of her work from NYU. I also work on campus, and this was a good reminder and source of inspiration to include my work on my portfolio website.
